One of the major advantages of having a specialist workshop next door to our warehouse is that when the opportunity arises we can make comparisons between original parts and aftermarket parts.
Today we had some original trailing arms removed from a T3 for new bushes, so took he opportunity to do a weight comparison – Original against New Aftermarket (JP Group) arms.
Considering the original arm has at least a few years of muck on it, not to mention wax, and the usually cut/broken bolts left in it… they’re pretty similar in weight which suggests they’re pretty similar in material thickness and quality of weld.
We expected nothing less to be honest… but now we know 🙂
We’re now keeping these fibreglass reproductions in stock.
Subtle but stylish modification that you won’t see on every T3… yet.
We like to be honest with the parts we sell… Theyre fibreglass, and hand made so whilst the overall shape is pretty much perfect with everything in the right place, they’re not “finished” so a few small scratches are to be expected.
You’re going to paint it anyway though aren’t you?
When VW fitted Alloy wheels to the T3, they used an unusual (for VW) wheel fitting as they have a tapered seat instead of the normal radius seat.
The reason they did this was to allow enough engagement on the standard length rear studs so vehicles with alloy wheels didn’t need longer studs fitting.

This is the reason why, when buying a used set of original T3 Alloy Wheels its always been important to get the original wheel fittings, because the correct ones havn’t been available for a long time.
There are a couple of alternatives that we’ve sold for years for this reason, but none of them are quite “right”…
So we’ve now sourced these. Much closer to the original, and just a little bit “nicer” than the Chrome plated closed nuts we’ve sold in the past for this application.

Well… its been a while!
We actually took delivery of these a couple of weeks ago, but in all honesty we’ve been so busy they’ve sat in an opened box until today.
A customer called in to collect an order, and asked how they were progressing so we dug him a set out…
Now on the webshop, along with pretty much everything you’d need to get the electric windows working on a T3… even if all you have at the moment are “keep fit windows”.
T3 Trailing arms are now listed on the webshop.
You can’t buy them yet as they’re not in actually in stock. We don’t do pre-orders, or other gimmicks to encourage you to pay for things before we’ve paid for them!
And we try not to take money for things we don’t have… its better off in your bank account than ours we’re sure you’ll agree and we’d only spend it on more quality parts anyway!)
However, we’re getting a lot of enquiries so now you can enter your email in the “Back In Stock Notification” box on the product page, so you’ll get an email when they land.
We have a date of the end of June, so not long now…
They come with standard rubber bushes fitted, and of course we have the fixings, clips and brake pipes to go with them… including just about everything else you might want to replace at the same time!
The sun is shining in Honley and we’ve just had a delivery of the new T3 A Pillar repair panels from JP Group in Denmark… does it get any better?

We had a moment of mild panic when these were made obsolete last year!
Once it was confirmed that there would be no more produced… ever, we started looking for an alternative. And here they are!
Just like the originals, these are a bulb not an LED, and come with the soft blue filter so you’re not blinded every time you put your main beam on!
No need to bodge superbright Blue LEDs in now… phew!
