Ignition Coil – T3 / Late (PIN)

For the VW T3 there are 2 different ignition coils fitted.

• Early – For all air-cooled and early water cooled petrol engine, these were fitted until the end of the 1984 model year in July ’84. Un to VIN: WV2 ZZZ (24/25) Z E H 155 000
• Late – For all engines fitted from the 1985 model year onwards, the parts catalogue says from VIN: WV2 ZZZ (24/25) Z E H 155 001 onwards but we suspect it’s actually from VIN: WV2 ZZZ (24/25) Z F (G/H) 00 001 onwards

This is a brand new ignition coil for later VW T3 models with PIN type connection for the king lead.

• 1.9l “DG” ’85»
• 1.9l “SP” – All
• 2.1l “DJ” – All
• 2.1l “MV” – All
• 2.1l “SS” – All
• 2.1l “SR” – All

We’ve not sold ignition coils for a very long time as everything that we bought did not match the factory testing data and when asking supplers and manufacturers for information we were not furnished with the data we required to sell their products with confidence.

After speaking with Bremi, they were very forthcoming with testing information so here we are, we’re selling Bremi ignition coils.

Testing data for this ignition coil is.

• Primary resistance of 0,65Ω
• Secondary of 4,94 kΩ.

The eagle eyed amongst you will think, well, yeah Brickwerks, that doesn’t match the factory data so are they faulty out of the box? The answer is no!

From the factory the later ignition coils came in 2 flavours, the standard Green label and then the Grey label for vehicles with triple earth electrode spark plug for extended service intervals.

This ignition coil sits between the green and the grey specification wise and is a replacement for both.

Yes, the testing data doesn’t align with the VW testing data but Bremi have done their homework and this coil will happily bolt on and work on post ’85 VW T3.
