Details
A kit of components to convert your late T3 with CE1 (blade fuse box as opposed to ceramic fuses found on earlier T3) to relay control.
Please read the following pages to understand what this kit is about and how to use it.
A simple kit to add relay control to your headlamps, no hole drilling, no messing around mounting relays out in the weather to get full of rain! the original headlamp fuses are retained where they belong with the rest of the fuses, new fuses added in the same area to make future fault finding much easier!
This is not a plug and play kit, it works differently to other kits on the market, if you’re wanting a kit just to throw in this isn’t it!
If you can clip things into place and are happy chopping a couple of wires and working with non-insulated electrical terminals then this kit allows you to make a factory looking, reversible installation.
The cable supplied in the kit and that which is already factory installed in the headlamp circuit is suitable for the following.
- 2 headlamps (i.e. round headlamps) – max of 126w per lamp (so don’t use 130w bulbs! they are not legal for road use anyway!)
- 4 headlamps – (i.e. rectangular headlamps) – max of 63w per lamp (normal headlamp bulbs are 60w on full beam and 55w on dipped)
Kit will contain.
- 2x relays.
- 2x relay sockets.
- 2 fuse holders
- 4 terminals for the fuse holders.
- 2 fuses for the 2 new power feed (25A) Use ohms law to calculate if you feel these are too highly rated)
- 2x white plastic terminal connectors for insulating the new power connections at “P”
- 1m Brown 1.0mm electrical cable for chassis ground for the relays
- 1m Red 2.5mm electrical cable for taking power from “P” terminals of the CE1 to the new fuse holders and then on to the relay sockets.
- 1m Yellow 1.5mm electrical cable for intercepting and feeding power back down the yellow dipped headlamp circuit.
- 1m White 1.5mm electrical cable for intercepting and feeding power back down the white main beam circuit.
- 4x male/female plastic electrical connectors for intercepting the dip/main signal and should be installed as such that the relay system can be unplugged if required and the wiring returned to standard, a failsafe if you wish.
- 4x male spade terminals for the above connectors.
This kit it primarily for RHD vehicles, on LHD vehicles it may be easier for you to intercept the yellow and white wires at the dip main switch, in which case the 4 white plastic connectors may not be required.
As this is a webshop kit then the list below of parts can be amended, if you have relays already, no problem simply set the quantity to zero, similarly, not confident in your crimping skills you can add extra terminals in case you mess any up!
