Fuel Tank – T3 / Late

Brand new steel fuel tank for VW T3 from Sept ’83 onward.

48mm fuel filler aperture. (to suit plastic filler neck models)

8mm fuel outlet and inlet tails.

Will suit all engines from sept ’83 except petrol fuel injection so that’s.

Diesel

• 1.6D “CS” (from sept ’83)
• 1.6TD “JX”
• 1.7D “KY”

Petrol

• 1.9l “DF”
• 1.9l “DG”

This is the most common fuel tank.

Tank comes in primer and needs to be painted or under sealed before fitment or it will rust.

The fuel tank is supplied with a rubber O ring for the fuel level sender, however we find them a little too hard and make fitting the fuel level sensor difficult and we advise that the seal is discarded and the original is retained or replaced with and alternative brand.

These fuel tanks are supplied to you as they are to us in a double walled cardboard box.
With the best will in the world and packed to withstand nuclear disaster the corners of these fuel tanks still may arrive with slight bends on the outside of the corner sealing weld.
We do not consider slight bends a reason for rejection.
Small bends on the outside seam are easily and quickly fixed with a hammer and dolly and as the tank is to be painted or undersealed anyway then there is no corrosion issue.
Buying this fuel tank means you accept that superficial bends may be present and you are happy to spend a minute or 2 tapping in to place.
