Gearbox Components

There are 4 distinct manual gearbox types for the VW T3

Gearbox type

• 091 – 4 speed, this is the early type gearbox as fitted to 1.6l “CT”, 2.0l “CU and 1.6D “CS” engines.
• 091/1 – 4 speed, this type of gearbox was introduced with the 1.9l “DF” and “DG” engine in around ’84 and replaced the 091.
• 094 – 5 Speed, introduced in about ’85
• 094-4WD – Syncro gearbox.
