Have a great Christmas!
Due to the AWS Service Disruption widely reported in the news today then we’re having a few wobbles here too.
Although we do not directly use AWS ourselves it seems some of our service providers do!
Orders are being received and packed although we’re having a hard time creating shipping labels.
We do have some back up systems which we can use but they aren’t as streamlined as what we usually use and it is taking much longer to process orders than we’d like.
Obviously these delays are having a knock on effect with what we can realistically get out of the door today.
As usual with unforeseen circumstances like this rest assured we’re doing what we can to keep orders flowing but these may be a short delay in your order leaving.
Systems do seem to be coming back online now.
We’re doing everything possible to make sure orders leave on time.
We’re writing this with a bit of a tear in our eye, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end…
Following recent changes in the US which will result in an end to the “De Minimis” entry allowance for goods shipped to the US, we will regrettably be suspending shipping to the US for the foreseeable future after Friday 22nd August.
Basically, the current system means that goods up to the value of $800 shipped into the US are not subject to any customs charges or tariffs.
It’s not something we’ve ever promoted really as it was in fact a very high allowance compared to some areas, and was always seen as something that it’s best not to draw attention to, for fear of losing it… but here we are anyway…
Essentially customs would look at the value and think “it’s not worth the time/expense to process” and it gets a green light, a bit like wafting through the “nothing to declare” line at the airport.
This has worked well for a lot of our customers over the years and in fact has been seen as a bit of a “bonus” for Americans wanting to source the better quality parts available from Europe.
This allowance will end on the 29th August, which in itself wouldn’t be an issue if there was simple a process whereby the fees are charged to the receiver on arrival in customs, who then release the goods. It’s a great system and works well almost everywhere else in the developed world!
However, that would be too easy it seems.
So the proposed system is that no goods will be accepted into the US without these costs being paid in advance. And that means they have to be collected by the exporter (which is us).
This for a small business like ours is something that’s simply not possible. It would mean implementing a system whereby we estimate these additional costs on the sale, and charge the customer.
And those charges have to be paid to US customs before the goods ship.
It’s a crazy situation really that means even more complications to shipping to the US than those we’ve recently seen, and an increase not only in costs to customers there, but also a substantial increase in our time and costs to do it.
Given the (what we will diplomatically refer to as the “unpredictable”) nature of the US attitude towards imports, frankly we’re not willing to invest in implementing a system which will cost us quite a bit of time and money, and which may not even be required in a few weeks time when your Supreme Leader wakes up and gets out of a different side of the bed.
So, rather than risk us shipping anything that won’t have passed through US customs when this change is applied, the last date for us shipping orders to the US will be Friday 22nd August, which gives it a week to be cleared and so we don’t end up with loads of orders being returned uncleared.
After that, for the moment at least as far as Brickwerks are concerned, it’s Vana….gone. 🙁

Just a heads up, there’s another bank holiday coming up so obviously we want a piece of that too! a well deserved break after post Easter and stock take chaos!
We’ll be closed on Monday the 5th of May and will return to an extra days worth of orders on Tuesday, you know the score, we’ve been here before, we’ll bang out as many orders as we can on first come first served as usual, anything we don’t get through will be carried over to the Wednesday.
It’s glorious outside as I’m writing this, who wants a small wager the weather will be atrocious for the long weekend?
Fingers crossed eh! Mind you, what’s better to be stuck on the M25 in? 25°C heat or a bit of drizzle?
Here we go again, from the chaos of the mountain of orders over the Easter weekend to the visceral dread of having to count trim clips!
We’ll be closed from the evening of Wednesday the 23rd until we’ve done which we’re expecting to be late on Friday night (25th April), obviously this is going to have a knock on effect with the delivery speed of your orders.
Now, if you’re in a rush, we’re not going to be able to help but please remember that we aren’t the only ones to sell T3 and T4 parts!
We know it’s not a normal thing to do, to say to customers to spend your money with another company and I know some wouldn’t probably return the favour but remember the likes of AH Schofield, Slaughterhouse Customs, JK & Heritage also have parts and if you’re in desperate need then you have alternatives!
For the Brickwerks Cheerleaders, the fan boys and girls who can wait, we’ll be back on Monday the 28th of April with yet another backlog to clear, realistically it’s going to be Wednesday the 30th of April before our emails and delivery speeds return to their normal levels.
The webshop will still be on, sat there taking orders and we will deal with them as soon as we can on a first come first served basis.
Simon.
Yeah, it’s been Easter and we’ve had basically a double weekends worth of orders to come back to.
We’ve got extra staff in to try and clear it, we’re doing our best to keep the orders flowing out the door.
Orders are being packed under a first come first served basis.
Backlog now clear 12:00 Weds 23rd April
Hi.
You hate it, we hate it but needs must.
We’ll be closed Wednesday the 10th and Thursday the 11th to carry out the annual stock take.
Last orders will be 2pm Tuesday for anything ordered with FedEx, 4pm for Royal Mail and collections.
Hopefully all done for Thursday evening and we’ll attempt to get the backlog out the door on Friday but it may spill over into the following Monday, we’ll do what we can with what we’ve got!
Just remember that we’re not the only ones with some of these parts and I’m sure Slaughter House Customs, Just Kampers, Heritage Parts Centre will only be too happy to relieve you of some cash!
Get ready for when the stock syncs on Thursday night for all that stuff that we manage to find that’s been missing for a year, all those rare parts that we thought were obsolete and that we didn’t know we had!
It’s come around quickly, but apparently it’s Easter!
We will be closed on Friday the 29th March, and Monday 1st April, returning to work on Tuesday the 2nd April.
The webshop will remain open all over the Easter period and we’ll commence shipping on Tuesday when we return.
Enjoy your chocolate eggs or whatever 🙂
As always after a bank Holiday we will process all orders on our return.
Any requests to change or ammend an order in any way will result in the order being placed “on hold” and dealt with after we have shipped everything else.
We always aim to get everything shipped out on the first day we return, but with the best will in the world due to the number or orders we receive thats not always possible.
We thank you for your patience.
Due to staff holidays there will be no one here with email access to reply to your questions, not an ideal situation but needs must.
All emails will be responded to on a first come first served basis upon our return to work, fully staffed on the 29th of Aug (the day after the bank holiday)
Clearly we’ll have a back log so please be patient in awaiting your response.
The warehouse is open as usual, orders will still be leaving as they should without disruption.
Please make sure that you order everything you need to!
Usual “Day after the bank holiday” rules apply, we’ll do what we can to get your orders out on time but first come first served, busiest time of the year and a 3 day weekend usually spells trouble!
It’s that time of year again, our silly season where customers are fixing their vans to go on holiday!
Just like you we like some time off too and we have a perfect storm brewing for early next week (31st of July to be precise!) where we will have more staff away from work than we’d ideally like.
We will be running reduced staff in the warehouse early next week and this is a heads up to say, please order in time as not as many packages as we’d like to get out the door will actually be going out of the door.
To try and pre-empt a flurry of grumpy customers who email to say “I paid extra for next day delivery”, orders will be picked, packed and shipped on first come first served basis and we will do our utmost to ship as much as we can with the shipping service you selected at checkout, we don’t want orders sat in the tray just as much as you don’t want a delay in receiving your package.
To save us from replying to the same type of emails over and over again, anyone who decided not to read the big red banner at the top of every page on the webshop will be simply sent a link to this page!
Normal service will resume on Wednesday the 2nd of August as we try and clear the backlog.
Please be careful to make sure you order everything you need as office staff will be in the warehouse packing orders and we may not get to your “I forgot to order something, can I tag it on to my current order” email until it’s shipped.
Happy Holidays!
Simon.
